Staying the same often leads to decline – if Mansfield is to prosper in the 21st century it needs to change and it needs to grow.
We will pursue a strategy of growth for housing and for employment development which will provide the basis for economic growth and improved quality of life for local people. The development of key brownfield and greenfield sites will make it possible to attract new jobs in growth sectors as well as provide high quality housing to attract and retain skilled workers.
To support this strategy, new neighbourhoods and business parks will be created on the edges of the town, making use of the Mansfield and Ashfield Regeneration Route (MARR) investment. Where development does involve extension to the urban area, it will be designed with the principles of sustainability at its heart.
We will also work with Ashfield District on a joint Economic Masterplan to make sure we achieve the full potential of the fifth largest urban area in the East Midlands.
